THE FACE OF TRUTH: First Stride to Death...
THE FACE OF TRUTH:
19 JUNE 1979,OAK AVENUE,GOA:
“ Bhakk…They lost this one also man…Sri Lanka were minnows. We needed to win this one.”BALA said in annoyance. India had already been knocked out of the world cup. No denying-WINDIES AND KIWIS were way ahead in terms of technique and temperament but Sri Lanka wasn’t even a test playing nation. To add to the misery Bala’s favourite Vishwanath was run out for a meagre 10.
Dissapointment was in air as Ashfaque entered the room.He was Bala’s next favourite-his best friend.##Kehte hain na DAAT KAATI ROTI HONA--THAT ONE..
He was in trouble as well but the reason was different. His book was missing. Bala was convinced that it had been stolen. In the process of searching which began as soon as he entered the room he had forgotten the match results and all that anger vanished away.. Such was the friendship between the two-Whenever one was in trouble the other got in it as well.Every joy and demise was equally shared…
Well.. The book wasn’t found. It was late night.. Ashfaque started crying. That book was quite close to his heart.Bala tried to console him but in vain. Finally, after wasting one third packet of a tissue paper they agreed to get them from the Billu’s shop the next day while returning from school. His was the only shop which had survived the disastrous emergency period and revived itself from the trauma which followed. He sold newspapers along with books of every kind-From Panchatantra to Adult Fiction-both new and second hand.
Bala and Ashfaque were in second class at that time. They did not had any access to money but to get the books 1 rupees and a 40 paisa was required. With mutual consent they decided to get half of them from either homes. But it was a tough task. None of there parents would give them the money for buying the books.
#THEY WERE NOT AT ALL CONVINCED WITH THE IDEA OF EDUCATION.
IT WAS THE FREESHIP WHICH THE TWO OF THEM HAD RECIEVED TO PURSUE THERE STUDIES. BALA AND ASHFAQUE WERE THE BEST IN BUSINESS AT THAT TIME. TWO GENUIS MINDS..

20TH JUNE 1979, HREDO’S MANSION,GOA:
Ashfaque's home:
Mummy Where’s my school bag?? Ashfaque shouted.
“ Take that shit yourself. I don’t care about it.Come back on time lest you shall miss your food as well.” Mom’s reply was yet another signal of her contempt. It was not a new thing for this toddler. He had become used to of listening them. But the task was still incomplete. Some how he managed to get as close as possible to his mom’s wallet and as he put down his hand inside the pockets to his surprise he couldn’t find anything but a coin. It was quite unusual one though…!!He had never seen such before.
Neverthless he did not want to miss the opportunity and took it with him. Nothing more could be found in the wallet. For once a thought came of selling some of his clothes just when he recallled that he had only two pieces of them. Clothes were washed only once in a month and it would have been quite troublesome to wear a single piece for 30 days or so...
He went ahead and as he reached the spot where they met as usual it dawned upon him how Bala would feel when he would come to know about the huge sum of money he had got??ππππππππ
Bala arrived at the stop. He did not get a single penny from his house. Poor lad-πππππ.....
How would he when he asked it straight away from his parents. In return he got a good amount of beating. Ashfaque stood still. He was happy at his victory in stealing and sad after seeing the red cheeks of his beloved friend.
After the school got over they went straight to the shop. None of them hoped to get even a single book with that wierd coin but they wanted to give it a shot.
When Bala put forward the coin in front of Bittu, he was taken aback. Niether of the three present there had imagined such sort of reaction. Bittu gave him five books in return and signalled them to run away and keep mum about this incident. The kids followed the instruction but as they went ahead either of them tried to figure out what had happened. They did not know what the coin had which made Bittu to give five books altogether at once…All’s well that end’s well..!!..They thought..
Ashfaque and Bala had promised not to tell this to anyone else. The issue was buried under the hatchet until when the dark night arrived wherin things turned drastically.
TAN TAN TAN TAN …. TAN
Bell rang all around… Mani shouted:
BITTU is killed. BITTU mar gya hai.…..
